When I started in the 11th Age in 1945, I came from an impoverished school across town. Calvert was like entering an intellectual, artistic, and athletic paradise for kids. Mr. Brown knew so much from shaking each hand in the morning, and in my educational career, I greeted every child in the morning and tried to make the schools as humane and respectful of children as Calvert. It is important to contribute often and steadily to the school regardless of the amount so that children can continue to have that experience.
